Wascomat Washer Error Code 33: No Interlock
Code 33 means the timer sent a run command to the motor control while the 230 V interlock signal, which confirms the door is closed and locked, was missing. Close the door firmly and restart. If it returns, the interlock cable, door lock connector or motor control needs testing.
High: the motor control will not run the drum without the interlock signal.
What does Wascomat error code 33 mean?
The motor control will only run the drum when it sees a 230 V interlock signal, the proof that the door is closed and locked. When the timer sends a run command, the motor control checks for that signal. If the signal is missing, it sets ERROR 033 / NO INTERLOCK and refuses to move the drum. The manual lists three causes: a break in the interlock cable, a problem in the door lock connector, and a problem in the motor control's own interlock circuits. The service steps are to measure the interlock signal on X302:1-2 while the door lock is activated and to read bit 1 of the second byte under Motor Status in the service program. These two readings show whether the signal reaches the motor control or is lost earlier.
Affected models and control systems
Wascomat washer-extractors W465H-W4300H, W475S-W4330S and W475N-W4330N with the Compass Control and its motor control (MCU).
Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.
What you may notice
- ERROR 033 / NO INTERLOCK appears when the cycle tries to run the drum
- The door is closed but the drum will not turn
- The lock clicks but the code still appears
- The cycle stalls right after the fill or at the first spin
Possible causes
Listed in Wascomat's documentation
- Break in the interlock cable
- Problem in the door lock connector
- Problem in the motor control interlock circuits
Other likely causes — what usually sits behind error code 33 on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- A door lock plug that has worked loose from vibration
- A cable that rubbed through where it passes the frame, interrupting the signal intermittently
Safe checks before calling for service
- Open the door and close it firmly until the latch engages.
- Switch the machine off at the disconnect, wait a minute, and switch it on.
- Restart the program and watch whether the code appears when the drum first tries to turn.
- Do not touch the lock plug. Note when the code appears and whether the lock clicks, then call us.
How a technician diagnoses error code 33
- Read the code and history to see when the run command is rejected.
- Measure the interlock signal on X302:1-2 while the door lock is activated.
- Read bit 1 of the second byte under Motor Status in the service program.
- Inspect the interlock cable for a break and the door lock connector for poor contact.
- Compare the signal at the lock with the signal at the motor control.
- Replace the cable, connector or motor control only after the signal test points to it.
- The interlock signal is 230 V, so measuring it on X302 is live work inside the cabinet.
- The interlock is a safety circuit, and we never bridge it.
- Reading motor status bits needs access to the service program.
How error code 33 differs from similar codes
Code 20 I/O MCU INTERLOCK is reported by the program controller about a board, while code 33 is raised by the motor control when a run command arrives without the 230 V interlock.

Related Wascomat washer error codes
What does the 230 V interlock do?
It tells the motor control the door is closed and locked. Without it the drum will not turn.
Can I bypass it to finish a load?
No. It is a safety signal, and bypassing it is dangerous.
Is it always the door lock?
No. The cable, the door lock connector or the motor control's interlock circuits can cause it, and the signal test shows which.
