The UHT and ULT are Traulsen’s compact undercounter units. UHT is the refrigerator and ULT is the freezer. Numbers such as UHT27-D, UHT32-D and UHT48 show the width and door style.
Compact boxes are tucked under counters in bars, cafes and prep areas with little airflow, so the condenser and the compressor run hot. We start by checking clearance and cleaning the coil, then the gasket, the control and the sensors. If a unit will not start, we test the start parts and the supply before we think about the compressor.
A compact undercounter is often worth repairing when the box and the door are sound, and we tell you plainly when it is not. Compact doors are small, so a bent hinge or a folded gasket corner is easy to miss. We run a hand along the whole seal and look for a draft or a line of frost.

My compact unit will not start. What do you check?
We check power at the outlet, the control and the start parts before the compressor. Many no-start calls are small parts. Then we look at the compressor itself.
Do these units need space around them?
Yes. A compact unit needs air space to breathe. If it is boxed in, heat builds up and the unit runs long. We advise on clearance.
