The HD line, known as Decathlon, is Frymaster’s high-efficiency gas fryer in the 50-lb class, rated at 100,000 Btu/hr. The HD50, HD60, HD63 and HD150 numbers on the data plate mark it. Controls vary from Thermatron to CM3.5 and the 3000.
On an HD fryer that will not light or recover, we start with ignition and the gas valve, then the probe and the high limit, then the burners and flue. Grease and dust around the burners are common in busy kitchens.

Why does my HD fryer cycle on and off?
Common causes are weak ignition or a pilot that drops out, a probe that reads wrongly, or the high limit opening early. We test those three things in that order.
Which control does my HD use?
It may be a Thermatron, a CM3.5 or a 3000. The display and the buttons tell us which one it is, and the data plate confirms the model number of the fryer.
