Wascomat Washer Error Code 24: Checksum from DLCU
Code 24 means the program unit detected an error in internal communication with the DLCU processor. The manual's remedy is to replace the CPU board. Switch the machine off and on once, then call us.
High: the safety processor link is unreliable, and the washer may not run.
What does Wascomat error code 24 mean?
The Compass CPU board talks to a separate safety processor, the DLCU. Every message between them carries a checksum, a number that lets the receiver confirm the data arrived intact. When the program unit finds that the data from the DLCU does not match its checksum, it shows ERROR 024 / CHECKSUM FROM DLCU. The manual gives a single remedy: replace the CPU board. That suggests the cause is inside the board, in the link between the CPU and DLCU, and not in a cable or an outside part. Code 51 is the opposite direction, where the DLCU finds a bad checksum from the CPU, and there the manual first asks for the codes to be reset and interference to be removed. Here it goes straight to the board.
Affected models and control systems
Wascomat washer-extractors W465H-W4300H, W475S-W4330S and W475N-W4330N with the Compass Control, CPU board and DLCU.
Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.
What you may notice
- ERROR 024 / CHECKSUM FROM DLCU appears
- The washer stops or will not start
- The code returns after restarts
- Other CPU or DLCU codes may appear
Possible causes
Likely causes — what usually sits behind error code 24 on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- A CPU board whose communication circuit to the DLCU has degraded
- A power disturbance that corrupted a message at the wrong moment
Safe checks before calling for service
- Switch the machine off at the disconnect, wait a minute, and switch it on again.
- Run a short program and see whether the code returns.
- Do not open the cabinet.
- If the code returns, write down any other codes shown, and call us.
How a technician diagnoses error code 24
- Read the code and confirm it is 024 along with any other CPU or DLCU codes.
- Check the supply for disturbances.
- Reset the codes and watch for a repeat.
- Check the connections between the CPU board and DLCU.
- Confirm the correct CPU board for the model.
- Replace the CPU board.
- The CPU board is inside the cabinet with mains-powered parts nearby.
- A CPU board swap needs the right board and settings.
- Checking supply disturbances needs a meter.
How error code 24 differs from similar codes
Code 24 is a bad checksum from the DLCU, and code 51 is a bad checksum from the CPU. The remedies differ.

Related Wascomat washer error codes
Is code 24 an interference problem?
The manual's remedy is the CPU board, so the cause is on the board.
Can a restart fix it?
It can clear a one-time glitch, but a repeat needs the board.
Is it the same as code 51?
No. Code 51 is the checksum error in the other direction, from the CPU to the DLCU.
