Wascomat Washer Error Code 51: Checksum from CPU
Code 51 means the DLCU detected an error in internal communication with the CPU, and the DLCU resets itself when the error clears. Reset the codes. If they return, remove sources of interference nearby, and if that does not help, try changing the CPU board.
Medium: the cause may be outside interference, and a reset often clears a single event.
What does Wascomat error code 51 mean?
The DLCU is the Compass control's safety processor, and it receives messages from the CPU board with a checksum on each. When the checksum does not match, the DLCU shows ERROR 051 / CHECKSUM FROM CPU. The manual says the DLCU resets itself when the error clears. Its steps are in order. Reset the error codes first. If they return, remove sources of interference nearby, since the one cause it lists is strong interference from surrounding equipment. If that does not help, try changing the CPU board. This order suggests the cheapest explanation comes first: a message corrupted by electrical noise. Welders, large motors, variable frequency drives and poorly shielded cables near the washer are the kinds of equipment that create such noise.

Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.
What you may notice
- ERROR 051 / CHECKSUM FROM CPU appears
- The code comes and goes
- It appears when nearby equipment starts
- The washer stops or resets
Possible causes
Listed in Wascomat's documentation
- Strong interference from surrounding equipment
Other likely causes — what usually sits behind error code 51 on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- A damaged shield or ground on a cable near the control
- A CPU board whose output has degraded and sends corrupted data
Safe checks before calling for service
- Reset the error by switching the machine off and on.
- Note whether the code appears when specific nearby equipment starts.
- Keep the control cabinet closed and do not move cables.
- If it returns, write down what was running nearby, and call us.
How a technician diagnoses error code 51
- Read the code and confirm it is 051.
- Reset the codes and watch for repeats.
- Check for interference sources near the machine and its cables.
- Check the grounding and shielding of cables to the control.
- Check the connections between the CPU board and DLCU.
- Change the CPU board if the code still returns.
- Finding interference needs observation while equipment runs.
- Cable shielding and grounding involve the cabinet and supply wiring.
- A CPU board swap needs the right board and settings.
How error code 51 differs from similar codes
Code 51 is a bad checksum from the CPU seen by the DLCU, while code 24 is a bad checksum from the DLCU seen by the program unit.

Can interference really cause this?
Yes, the manual lists strong interference from surrounding equipment as the cause.
Will it fix itself?
The DLCU resets itself when the error clears, but a repeat needs investigation.
When is the board changed?
After resetting and removing interference have not helped.
