The GR series is a line of Vulcan gas fryers with the models GR35M, GR45M, GR65M and GR85M. The number points to the oil size class. Some use a snap action thermostat with a standing pilot, others use a solid state control.
When a GR will not hold its pilot, we check the flame, the thermocouple and the gas valve. If the oil runs hot or cold, the thermostat is the first suspect. We also look at the tubes for soot. On a worn GR we give you a frank view on whether repair or a new fryer is the better buy. A smell of gas means stepping outside and phoning the utility first. Why will the pilot not stay lit?
A weak flame, a tired thermocouple or a gas valve problem can cause it. Check that the shut-off is open, then call us. With any gas smell, leave and call the gas utility.
Do you service the thermostat?
Yes. We test the thermostat against the real oil temperature, adjust or replace it as needed and quote the work in writing before we start.
