Repairs this series usually needs
- IGNITION LOCKOUT alarm
- Open or shorted probe message
- No heat
- Filter pump will not pump oil
- Tank will not drain
PowerFry3 is the TR line of Vulcan gas fryers, sold as single units or batteries of up to six vats. The data plate gives a model such as 2TR65, where the first digit counts the vats and the last two give the size class: 45, 65 or 85. KleenScreen PLUS handles the filtering.
The control tells us a lot. The digital and computer versions report ignition lockouts, probe problems and high temperature, while the analog control has no codes, so we test it directly. We check the gas supply, the ignition and the probe before anything else.
If the filter pump will not move oil, cold shortening and a clogged screen are common reasons. Never filter hot oil outside the owner’s manual procedure.

The first digit is the number of vats and the 65 is the size class, so a 3TR65 is a three-vat battery of 70 lb class fryers. Your data plate has the full model.
My TR fryer has no display codes. Is that normal?
Yes, if it has the analog control. Only the digital and computer controls show messages. We test the analog version directly, since it has no codes to read.
Do you repair the filtration too?
Yes. We check the filter pump, the screen and the valves, and we tell you if cold shortening or a clogged screen is what keeps the pump from moving oil.
