02What goes wrong

Common pot & pan washers problems we fix

In plain words, the way kitchen and laundry staff describe them when they call.

01

Baked-on grease left on pots

02

Wash tank will not fill or heat

03

Door or hood does not latch

04

Rinse spray arms barely spraying

05

Water leaking from the door seal

06

Machine stopping mid-cycle without warning

Pot and pan washers are the large, deep-tank machines that clean sheet pans, stock pots, mixing bowls and cookware. The family includes door-type units, hood-type units, front-loading cabinets and undercounter models, heated by electricity or steam. Restaurants, hotels, school cafeterias, churches and care facilities all rely on them.

Why they wear the way they do

The loads are heavy with grease and starch, and a hot kitchen keeps everything warm and damp all day. Hard water leaves mineral scale on heating elements, spray nozzles and wash arms, so the machine heats slowly and cleans less well. Door seals, curtains and drain strainers wear from steady use.

We start with the basics: wash and rinse spray, tank fill and drain, heating, the door or hood switch and the chemical feed. Many complaints trace to a clogged nozzle or a worn seal, and what you see does not tell us which part failed, so we test before recommending anything.

Repair or replace, and what to have ready

On an older machine we weigh the repair against the age of the tank, the frame and the controls. If the body is sound, a repair usually makes sense. If the tank is leaking through the wall or parts are hard to find, we say so and let you decide. Have the model label in front of you when you call.

Please do not open electrical panels, bypass a door switch or work on steam or gas connections yourself, and follow your food-safety plan and local health rules for cleaning while the machine is down.

FAQPot & Pan Washer questions
Why do my pots still look greasy after a full cycle?

Often the wash tank is not holding heat, spray nozzles are clogged with food and scale, or the detergent feed is off. We check each in order, then tell you which one explains what you see.

Can you repair an older pot and pan washer that is out of warranty?

Yes. Older and out-of-warranty machines make up most of our work. We test the machine, explain what is worn, give you a written price before work, and tell you honestly when replacing it makes more sense.

What should I have ready when I call?

The model label or data plate, usually on the side or back of the machine, and a short description of what the machine does. Photos of any display message help. Call us or fill out the online form to schedule service.
