Common Stero dish machines problems
In plain words, the way kitchen and laundry staff describe them when they call.
LOW RINSE TEMP on repeated cycles
FILL ERROR with the machine stopped
DRAIN ERROR with the machine stopped
Probe message with OPEN or SHORT
Door Open message
Delime notification stays on
The SUn-H and SUn-L undercounters wash about 30 racks an hour on 0.84 gallons a rack, with service diagnostics that report errors and a notification when delime is due. The older SU-H adds a booster for a 180 degree F rinse, and the SU-L is a low-temperature chemical model. The SD1 is a door-type chemical-sanitizing machine with a door cycle switch, and the SD3 and SD3T are door-type machines for hot or chemical sanitizing.
Door Open simply tells you the door is not latched. WASH, RINSE and BOOSTER TEMP SENSOR messages with OPEN or SHORT mean a probe reading is out of range, though the machine keeps cycling. SUMP LEVEL SENSOR and BOOSTER LEVEL SENSOR messages stop the machine. LOW RINSE TEMP often traces to cool incoming water or rapid cycling. We test the probes, the pressure switches, the fill and drain valves and the heater, in that order.
The SD1 operates on a 120 volt supply, and its chemical pumps need to be primed. For an older SG-40 or SU machine, we are plain about whether the repair is worth the cost.

It reminds you that lime scale needs to be removed, which protects the heater and rinse parts. Start the delime routine from the owner's manual. If the notice returns right away or the machine overheats, call us.
Why does my Stero say WASH TEMP SENSOR with OPEN or SHORT?
The wash temperature probe is reading out of range, and the machine keeps cycling. The probe, its wiring or a connection needs a test, so call us and we replace what is needed.
How hot does the water need to be for my Stero SD1?
The SD1 wants a minimum of 140 degrees F incoming water, and chemical sanitizing needs a 120 degree F final rinse. If the water is cooler, the machine will not sanitize properly. Call us to test the supply and heater.
