Baxter Ovens in Our Service List
Baxter’s OV520 rotating rack oven has a Smart Touch screen and comes in single or double rack, gas or electric. The OV500 is the earlier electronic-control rack oven, and the CS500 is the budget rack oven. For smaller shops there are the OV320 and OV310 mini rack ovens, and the MB300 proofer base that sits under them.
Reading the Controls
An OV500 that shows SHdn, with a flashing oven temperature and an alarm, has gone into a safety shutdown and stopped heating. LOC OUT appears when the oven temperature drops below 150 degrees F, and a rapid beep, faster than the timer beep, is a Kosher mode temperature alert. On the OV520, yellow errors let a bake continue at reduced settings, while red errors, such as hood ventilation on gas ovens, must be fixed before heating resumes.
A gas OV520 also has an ignition module with a status light, and the number of flashes tells us whether to look at air flow or flame. A rack that stops rotating usually means a pan or rack jam, or the rotation motor. If you smell gas, leave the building and call the gas utility from outside.
The heat, flour dust and steam of a busy bakery wear on door seals, fans and controls. We say plainly when an older oven is not worth the repair, and we give a written price before work and a 30-day warranty.

It is the control's safety alarm. The oven stops heating, sounds an alarm and flashes the actual oven temperature. We find what triggered it by testing the safety circuit and controls, then price the repair in writing.
Why does my Baxter oven show LOC OUT?
The control locks out when the oven temperature falls below 150 degrees F. On the OV310 it can also mean Kosher lockout mode is on. We check the mode and the heating system.
Do you service the Baxter OV520 Smart Touch ovens?
Yes. We read the yellow or red error on the screen first, and on gas ovens we also check the ignition module. We order what the error points to ahead of the visit.
