Repairs this series usually needs
- SL#1 long freeze shutdowns
- SL#2 long harvest shutdowns
- Water loss shutdown with a 30-minute delay
- Condenser airflow in tight cabinets
- Scale on the plate and probe
The undercounter Manitowoc machines include the UD0140A, UY0190A, UR0240A and their water-cooled and E versions. They fit under a counter in bars and small kitchens, and they use a control with SL#1 and SL#2 lights and a wrench light.
SL#1 and the wrench light flash after three long freezes, and the machine stops after six. SL#2 and the wrench light flash after long harvests and stop at 100. Both lights flashing means the machine did not sense water, and it waits 30 minutes before trying again.
Because the cabinet is tight, airflow matters. We check the condenser, the water supply, scale and the probe, then the sealed system. Older units get honest advice on cost. The model number on the data plate tells us whether yours is air-cooled or water-cooled, and that decides what we check first on arrival.

It warns that the machine is approaching a stop limit, which makes it a prompt to call us before the machine shuts down on its own and the bin runs empty.
Do I need space around an undercounter unit?
Yes. It needs clear air at the front and around the cabinet. Built-in spaces that are too tight make freezes longer and can trigger the lights.
What does a 30-minute delay mean?
After a four-minute freeze with no water sensed, the machine waits half an hour and tries again. Check the water supply while it waits, and call us if it repeats.
