Traulsen Lines and Models

Current Traulsen equipment starts with the G-Series reach-ins and pass-thrus (model numbers like G100 and G200) and the R-Series RHT, RLT, RRI and RIF cabinets. We also repair TU full-size and UHT and ULT compact undercounters, TS raised-rail prep tables, TE chef bases, UPT and UST compact prep tables and glycol-cooled prep tables. Traulsen R and A Series cabinets from before 2013 are still working in kitchens in all five metros, and we repair those as well.

The two control types behave differently. The G-Series has a tap-tap keypad control, while the R-Series and older A-Series use the Intela-Traul microprocessor control, and the display messages differ too. Identifying the control is the first thing we do.

What the Alarms Tell Us

A Hi CAb alarm means the cabinet has run too warm, because of an open door, hot product or a dirty condenser. The condenser clean alarm begins when discharge temperature passes about 140 degrees F, and the compressor and fan shut off at 160 until the system cools. Grease in a busy kitchen, plus humid heat in Miami and Houston or dry heat in Los Angeles and San Diego, brings a coil to that point quickly.

We look at the condenser, door gaskets and drain pan, then test the sensor in an ice bath, where a good one reads about 32,700 ohms at 32 degrees F. Hot-food models are not made to heat cold product, so we confirm what a cabinet is designed to do before diagnosing it. Older cabinets get a plain repair-or-replace talk and a written price.

FAQTraulsen questions
What does Hi CAb mean on my Traulsen?

Hi CAb is the cabinet high temperature alarm. A door held open, hot product or a dirty condenser can set it off. Close the doors and clear the condenser area, and call us if the alarm stays on.

Do you repair older Traulsen R and A Series cabinets?

Yes. Traulsen R and A Series reach-ins from before 2013 are still common, and we repair them. We tell you plainly when a repair no longer makes sense.

Why does my Traulsen show a condenser clean alarm?

The control sees a hot discharge line, which usually means a dirty condenser or filter. Cleaning it helps. If the alarm comes back, we check the fan and airflow.
